Health Care Bill to Move Forward

In recent developments, the Obama administration is in a very tough situation regarding the president’s health care bill that will be effective in 2015. According to Fox News several states including Texas, have filed a lawsuit stating that the bill is unconstitutional. The main argument has dealt with the section that states, “Individuals have the health insurance or face tax penalties and require states to pay additional costs”. The first cause of concern is that the bill deals with Americans who do not have the health insurance, are they required to pay for insurance they cannot afford? If not, does congress have the power to hold states accountable to pay for people who are not covered? This is important because how much power can the federal government have over state government.
